Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Luke Navela, is expected to hold a press conference today and highlight the progress of their investigations.

Mere’s mother, Sili Keni, yesterday also confirmed that Police officers and a suspect known to them were at the settlement.

It is believed that they were reconstructing the alleged scene of what transpired on that fateful day – when 14-year-old Mere went missing. “They came with the suspect and took him around to all the places where Mere was that Sunday night. They took him right up to the beach where her body was found,” Mrs Keni said.

She remains hopeful that justice will soon be served. Mrs Keni has also acknowledged the tireless efforts put in by Police in their investigations, and members of the public who have helped them by revealing information. So far no suspect has been charged for Mere’s brutal death.

Mere Ailevu, 14.
