Tokoseu: Ba ath­letes do­ing well

Xavier Col­lege cur­rently leads the medal tally of the Ba zonal meet at the end of the fi rst day of com­pe­ti­tion. Meet man­ager Ratu Esala Tokoseu said yes­ter­day the per­for­mance from the ath­letes was over­whelm­ing. “De­spite be­ing badly hit by the cy­clone the ath­letes per­formed ex­tremely well,” he said. “They re­ported to the ground on time and had a pos­i­tive ap­proach to­wards this meet.”

He also two ath­letes stood out in the se­nior grade as they scooped gold medals in their re­spec­tive events. “Ioana Le­wadradra from A.D. Pa­tel Col­lege won two gold medals, one in se­nior girls 100 me­tres and the other in the 800me­tres. Also im­pres­sive was Ak­isi Bili­valu of Nuku­loa Col­lege who won two gold medals in the field events. One gold medal in the se­nior girls shot put and the other gold medal in the se­nior girls dis­cuss com­pe­ti­tion.” The com­pe­ti­tion con­tin­ues today at the Xavier Col­lege ground.
