For­mer sprint queen helps Navia

Usaia Navia was the fi rst of Shree­d­haar Ma­haraj Col­lege in Waini­bokasi to win a gold medal for his school in the Triple N Zone meet at the ANZ Sta­dium, Suva yes­ter­day. The zone’s se­nior boys 200 me­tres cham­pion said since this was his fi­nal year in high school, he want- ed to make his school proud by prov­ing him­self to his coach and se­cur­ing his spot in the Coca-Cola Games later this month. The Nasama na­tive from Nadroga lad is coached by for­mer South Pa­cific Games sprint queen Make­lesi Bu­likiobo- Ba­ti­mala. He said be­ing couched by a for­mer na­tional sprint­ing star was a priv­i­lege and he hopes to con­tinue per­form­ing un­der her guid­ance in the Coca-Cola Games.

“I feel so happy and still can’t be­lieve I came first, but I know there is still more to im­prove.” Navia has been par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Triple N Zone since his first year in high school. He only made it to the Coke Games in 2013.
