France welcome Vakatawa’s return
Naitasiri native Virimi Vakatawa has returned to France’s sevens squad after playing a starring role for his adopted country in the Six Nations 2016. Vakatawa marked his Les Bleus debut against Italy with a try after just 14 minutes and was an ever-present in Guy Noves’ side throughout the Championship. The 23-year-old appeared in both the opening rounds of the series in Dubai and Cape Town before turning his attention to 15s. Vakatawa made his series debut in the 2013/14 season and will be appearing in his 14th tournament at the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens. Stade Toulouse’s former France under-20 wing Arthur Bonneval is set to make his series debut after being named in the squad of 13. Before making his way to France, Vakatawa first made the limelight when he played for Lomaivuna High School before he was recruited by Nasinu Secondary School.
