Xavier Col­lege re­tain Ba ti­tles

Xavier Col­lege re­tained the boys and girls ti­tle at the Ba Sec­ondary Schools Athletics zone meet yes­ter­day.

In the boys divi­sion, Xavier Col­lege took top hon­ours with 30 gold medals, 20 sil­ver and 7 bronze while Kamil Mus­lim Col­lege came sec­ond with 7 gold medals, 12 sil­ver and 15 bronze. A.D Pa­tel Col­lege was in third place with 5 gold medals, 8 sil­ver and 7 bronze.

In the girls divi­sion Xavier Col­lege girls dom­i­nated with 20 gold medals, 12 sil­ver and 13 bronze.

A.D Pa­tel Col­lege set­tled for sec­ond spot with 9 gold medals, 15 sil­ver and 7 bronze while in third place was Khalsa Col­lege with 5 gold medals, 4 sil­ver and 3 bronze.

Jovil­isi Mu­loca of Xavier Col­lege got the Best Male Ath­lete award af­ter he bagged three gold medals in the ju­nior boys 100m, 200m and 4x100 re­lay. He also broke a three-year record in the 200m with a time of 22.89s. The record was pre­vi­ously held by Adarsh Dutt of A.D Pa­tel Col­lege with the time of 22.98. A to­tal of 11 records were bro­ken at the two-day event.

Fiji Sec­ondary Schools Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion vice-pres­i­dent Jone Mal­i­mali said the west­ern zone ath­letes would give a good com­pe­ti­tion to the East­ern and North­ern teams come the Coca- Cola Games.
