People living in makeshift tents after Cyclone Winston are counting their lucky stars as their homes were not swamped by Tropical Cyclone Zena. Drauniivi villager Jope Naquru whose house was destroyed during TC Winston on February 20, had encountered the heavy downfall since Monday. “We have been living in it and started to rebuild our home but it won’t be good as the first one but we have to make something out of it,” he said. “We took precautions and sheltered ourselves at the evacuation centre. Lucky TC

Zena was not that strong otherwise what we have re-built would have forced us to restart again,” Mr Naquru said. Meli Yasawa, 34, of Naivuvuni Village said they had been drying out their belongings in the sun yesterday. Akuila Navanuavinaka, 40, and his family of three of Rakiraki fled to the evacuation centre to take cover during the flooding on Monday.
