10 ar­rested for al­leged drunk driv­ing

Ten peo­ple were ar­rested by Po­lice at the week­end for drunk driv­ing. This was con­firmed to the Fiji Sun yes­ter­day by the Fiji Po­lice Force di­rec­tor traf­fic, Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent (SSP) Ma­hesh Mishra. At the week­end Po­lice also is­sued 150 in­fringe­ment notices and booked 116 driv­ers for speed­ing. SSP Mishra said they in­ter­cepted 119 ve­hi­cles and car­ried out 300 ran­dom breath­a­lyzer tests.

NALUWAI IN­CI­DENT Mean­while, last Fri­day at Naluwai Vil­lage in Naitasiri, it is al­leged that a driver bumped a man who was rid­ing a bi­cy­cle along Vu­nidawa Road. The sus­pected driver failed to stop but was later ar­rested at Cor­bert

Av­enue.

The ac­ci­dent vic­tim suf­fered in­juries to his neck, right hand and knee, and is ad­mit­ted at the Vu­nidawa Hos­pi­tal.

BAU ROAD CRASH

SSP Mishra said an ac­ci­dent oc­curred at Bau Road on Fri­day whereby a pri­vate ve­hi­cle bumped a ve­hi­cle caus­ing in­juries to all pas­sen­gers.

The three pas­sen­gers suf­fered in­juries and are now un­der ob­ser­va­tion at the Nau­sori Hos­pi­tal. One of them re­ceived head in­juries and was trans­ferred to CWM Hos­pi­tal. Mean­while, SSP Mishra has urged mo­torists to re­spect the traf­fic rules.

The ve­hi­cle veered off the Dravo Bridge near Bau Road in Tailevu and landed in the river early yes­ter­day morn­ing.
