Earth ob­ser­va­tion satel­lite as­sists Ecuador quake re­lief

Beijing: China has of­fered a set of hi-res­o­lu­tion im­ageries of the Ecuador quake zone, cap­tured by satel­lite Gaofen-2 to aid re­lief work, ac­cord­ing to the China Na­tional Space Ad­min­is­tra­tion (CNSA). The earth­quake, the strong­est in Ecuador for over 35 years, has claimed more than 500 lives, and in­jured nearly 6000 oth­ers. The images of the re­gion be­fore and af­ter the quake were pro­vided on Wed­nes­day af­ter a re­quest from the Ecuador’s gov­ern­ment. The CNSA will also or­gan­ise a group of ex­perts to an­a­lyse the images and co-or­di­nate the Gaofen-1 and Gaofen-2 satel­lites to keep ob­serv­ing the af­fected area. Xin­hua
