TSUNAMI THREAT CAN­CELLED

The tsunami threat that was is­sued for Fiji was soon can­celled. The earth­quake with a mag­ni­tude of 7.0 rocked Van­u­atu yes­ter­day morn­ing trig­ger­ing tsunami warn­ings in the re­gion. Tremors were also felt in some parts of Fiji. There was a tsunami warn­ing that was is­sued to Fiji that de­creased and was fur­ther can­celled and con­firmed by the Depart­ment of Min­eral and Re­sources.

“The tsunami threat does not ex­ist for Fiji from the Van­u­atu earth­quake that oc­curred this morn­ing there­fore, the tsunami in­for­ma­tion can­cel­la­tion is now is­sued,” a state­ment from Seis­mol­ogy Sec­tion for the Min­eral Re­sources Depart­ment said.
