Spine operation for road victim
Awoman in her 20s is expected to undergo a spine operation this week after she sustained a serious injury in a car accident in Olosara, Sigatoka yesterday morning. The victim is admitted at Lautoka Hospital after being transferred from the Sigatoka Hospital. The vehicle was travelling towards Suva when it veered off the road and plunged into the bush. Police inspector Josaia Weicavu said the statement given to them by the victims was that the car tried to dodge a horse which came in the middle of the road. “An accident happened where 21 year old driver lost control of the vehicle and veered of the road,” he said. The driver and two other passengers were treated and sent home from Sigatoka Hospital. Inspector Weicavu said: “We again would like to advise drivers to drive slowly and just avoid over speeding. “Over speeding will take you and your passengers to the hospital and might end up in the mortuary if you are not lucky enough to survive after the accident.
“It is better to arrive late but safely to your next destination.”
Police investigations continue.
