Lightning strikes power lines, causes outages on Viti Levu
Two separate lightning strikes caused power outages across Viti Levu on Sunday and yesterday.
Fiji Electricity Authority chief executive officer, Hasmukh Patel said power disruptions were widespread.
“This lightning strike affected the main 132,000volts transmission lines from Wailoa to Vuda in Lautoka and Cunningham in Suva,” Mr Patel said of the Sunday power outage. At around 3.30pm yesterday another lightning strike caused power outages on Viti Levu as well. FEA electricians are working around the clock to normalise power supply. “The FEA sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused to all our valued customers which is beyond our control,” Mr Patel said.
