Goodman Fielder Donate Food Supplies for Rehabilitation Efforts
Manufacturing giant, Goodman Fielder International Fiji Limited boosted the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund by donating containers of basic food supplies to the National Disaster Management Committee. Goodman Fielder General Manager Chris Zaayman said:“Goodman Fielder in partnership with their international corporate office have come together to donate supplies worth of $324,000.’’ Mr Zaayman added apart from this donation, Goodman Fielder supplied chicken and other food products after the Cyclone in February. “The donations were distributed to Koro Island, Gau Island, Vanua Balavu,Yacata Island and Batiki Island,’’ he said. “We also visited many villages and homes in the Ra corridors distributing basic food items and cooked up a meal at Namuaimada village.’’ Receiving the donation was Permanent Secretary for National Disaster Management Meleti Bainimarama. He said the Goodman Fielder donation yesterday came in time, as the commissioners are running some of the food supplies. Mr Bainimarama added the Fiji DISMAC Office is going to distribute the containers of rice yesterday whereas the rest of the supplies will be distributed throughout the week.
