Teams Share Prize-money

New Net Ya­sawa and Sau­naka Red were joint win­ners of the Sau­naka 7s 2016 last Satur­day. This was af­ter the or­gan­is­ers ruled out the fi­nal due to the un­avail­abil­ity of flood­lights at Prince Charles Park. The teams agreed to share the $3000 prize-money. New Net Ya­sawa man­ager Tom Bruce said they knew they had been pre­pared to reach the fi­nals. “It would not have hap­pened if they started the com­pe­ti­tion on time,” New Net Ya­sawa man­ager Tom Bruce said. The side had key play­ers like Ovini Tuidraki, Tanoa Joni, Sairusi Muavou, Raogo Tuiniyau and Rusi Waqa. Bruce said they would be tak­ing part in the Samoa In­de­pen­dent Sev­ens. Sau­naka Red coach Poni­pate Toga said they agreed to share the prize-money.

The host’s had the ser­vices of Sairusi So­qeta, Iliesa Bari, Leone So­vau, Maika Toga, and To­masi Ralulu. “We will be a bet­ter team next year,” Toga said.
