Teams Share Prize-money
New Net Yasawa and Saunaka Red were joint winners of the Saunaka 7s 2016 last Saturday. This was after the organisers ruled out the final due to the unavailability of floodlights at Prince Charles Park. The teams agreed to share the $3000 prize-money. New Net Yasawa manager Tom Bruce said they knew they had been prepared to reach the finals. “It would not have happened if they started the competition on time,” New Net Yasawa manager Tom Bruce said. The side had key players like Ovini Tuidraki, Tanoa Joni, Sairusi Muavou, Raogo Tuiniyau and Rusi Waqa. Bruce said they would be taking part in the Samoa Independent Sevens. Saunaka Red coach Ponipate Toga said they agreed to share the prize-money.
The host’s had the services of Sairusi Soqeta, Iliesa Bari, Leone Sovau, Maika Toga, and Tomasi Ralulu. “We will be a better team next year,” Toga said.
