Niue ups Cyclone Winston’s relief funds
Government received $50,000 from the government of Niue and members of the Fijian community there as part of Cyclone Winston relief assistance. Roving ambassador Litia Mawi received the donation from acting Premier Pokotoa Sipeli when she was in Niue to present her credentials last week. Mr Sipeli conveyed the Niuean government’s respect for the people of Fiji as they rebuild their lives after the destruction caused by Cyclone Winston. He acknowledged the resilience of the Pacific communities in overcoming such challenges and devastation. He also thanked the Fijian community in Niue for their efforts in raising funds to assist. Ambassador Mawi expressed her gratitude to the government and the people of Niue for the kind gesture accorded to all those who suffered during Cyclone Winston.
