Niue ups Cy­clone Win­ston’s re­lief funds

Gov­ern­ment re­ceived $50,000 from the gov­ern­ment of Niue and mem­bers of the Fi­jian com­mu­nity there as part of Cy­clone Win­ston re­lief as­sis­tance. Rov­ing am­bas­sador Litia Mawi re­ceived the do­na­tion from act­ing Premier Poko­toa Sipeli when she was in Niue to present her cre­den­tials last week. Mr Sipeli con­veyed the Ni­uean gov­ern­ment’s re­spect for the peo­ple of Fiji as they re­build their lives af­ter the de­struc­tion caused by Cy­clone Win­ston. He ac­knowl­edged the re­silience of the Pa­cific com­mu­ni­ties in over­com­ing such chal­lenges and dev­as­ta­tion. He also thanked the Fi­jian com­mu­nity in Niue for their ef­forts in rais­ing funds to as­sist. Am­bas­sador Mawi ex­pressed her grat­i­tude to the gov­ern­ment and the peo­ple of Niue for the kind ges­ture ac­corded to all those who suf­fered dur­ing Cy­clone Win­ston.
