Super Competitions Launched
Two competitions were launched yesterday as the nation anticipates the first ever Super Rugby match to be played here on July 1. Super Rugby steering committee chairperson Litiana Loabuka announced the launch of the AON Ball Carrier competition as well as the Chiefs Facebook photo contest. Loabuka announced for the ball carriers competition, 15 lucky kids would be chosen to undergo a half-day workshop where eight will become ball carriers with seven reserves. “All applicants must be between the ages of 12 and 16 years and participants need to tell us in any way or form why they should be selected to be one of the eight ball carriers,” she said. The AON Ball Carrier competition is restricted only to participants from the Suva area and is open to both boys and girls of the selected ages.
Ball carrier applications can be delivered to the Fiji Sports Council (with Super Rugby Ball Carrier Competition on the envelope) or emailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org or loaded on the Fiji Sports Council Facebook page by end of business on the closing date– Friday, June 10, 2016. Loabuka also launched a nationwide Facebook competition for Fiji fans to send in a support picture in any type of Gallagher Chiefs outfit or merchandise. “Fans are to send in an image of themselves either with fans, friends, and family in their Chiefs outfit or holding a chiefs flag or a home-made Chiefs placard. “Photos to be posted on the Fiji Sports Council Facebook page and with this the top 5 photos with the most number of likes for the week will receive official chiefs’ merchandise,” she said.
