Life has its all sorts of challenges but my uncle Corporal Manoa Nakaloa gave me some strong advice that I have to learn from my mistakes everyday and I will be able to do better in the future.
ATailevu lass who left for Sinai yesterday as part of the 29-member Republic of Fiji Military Forces contingent wants to improve from her mistakes to be a better person for the future.
“Life has its all sorts of challenges but my uncle corporal Manoa Nakaloa gave me some strong advice that I have to learn from my mistakes everyday and I will be able to do better in the future,” says 20-year-old Karalaini Vonoyauyau. Ms Vonoyauyau will turn 21 next Wednesday, May 25, and is not fazed by celebrating her birthday in a strange land. “I will surely miss home but have to sacrifice and this part of that life,” the ex Sila Central High School student said. The Waikete native has maternal links to Mataso in the province of Ra will be flying on a plane for the first time but can’t wait to start her tour of duty in the Middle East. “I am really excited and looking forward for my first tour of duty,” she said. “I joined the force in May 2015 as I was taking a scholarship programme of Diploma in Trade Agriculture at Koronivia but when application came I went all for the RFMF.” Her aunt Tinai Moceituba said her family was proud to see Ms Vonoyauyau in RFMF uniform. “Her mum died when she was young and my parents took care of her, now all of them are no longer here but their fruit of upbringing we can see on her smiling face,” Ms Moceituba said. RFMF Major Isikeli Vakadewabuka said the 29 members of the RFMF were all set to take up their duties in Sinai.
“All look set physically, mentally with a mixture of young and senior including two women,” he said. Major Vakadewabuka told the officers to be good and obedient soldiers.
“That is one of the first notable gesture of the RFMF that we listen and everything will be in order. Look after your responsibility well. “Remember what the Prime Minister stresses to make sure that you condition your body and even the lifestyle come back one year and make your country, families happy.”
