A-G leads 2016-2017 National Budget Consultations
Meetings with NGOs and stakeholders in coming days
Government ministries, departments and other agencies have begun submitting funding requests for the upcoming fiscal year this week at the 2016-2017 National Budget Consultations. The meeting was led by the Attorney-General and Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. “The upcoming budget will focus on promoting inclusivity and broad-based growth so that we can continue creating sustainable employment for ordinary Fijians in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone
Winston. We are prioritising funding for policies focussed on boosting our climate resilience and rebuilding from the cyclone,” Mr Sayed Khaiyum said. He also emphasised the importance of consultations with the general public. In tomorrow’s Fiji Sun, advertisements will be placed encouraging members of the public to submit written submissions on their ideas and suggestions for the 2016-2017 National Budget. Mr Sayed-Khaiyum and the Ministry of Finance team is also scheduled to meet with key nongovernment organisations and other stakeholders in the coming days.
