A-G leads 2016-2017 Na­tional Bud­get Con­sul­ta­tions

Meet­ings with NGOs and stake­hold­ers in com­ing days

Gov­ern­ment min­istries, de­part­ments and other agencies have be­gun sub­mit­ting fund­ing re­quests for the up­com­ing fis­cal year this week at the 2016-2017 Na­tional Bud­get Con­sul­ta­tions. The meet­ing was led by the At­tor­ney-Gen­eral and Min­is­ter for Fi­nance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. “The up­com­ing bud­get will fo­cus on pro­mot­ing in­clu­siv­ity and broad-based growth so that we can con­tinue cre­at­ing sus­tain­able em­ploy­ment for or­di­nary Fi­jians in the af­ter­math of Trop­i­cal Cy­clone

Win­ston. We are pri­ori­tis­ing fund­ing for poli­cies fo­cussed on boost­ing our cli­mate re­silience and re­build­ing from the cy­clone,” Mr Sayed Khaiyum said. He also em­pha­sised the im­por­tance of con­sul­ta­tions with the gen­eral pub­lic. In to­mor­row’s Fiji Sun, ad­ver­tise­ments will be placed en­cour­ag­ing mem­bers of the pub­lic to sub­mit writ­ten sub­mis­sions on their ideas and sug­ges­tions for the 2016-2017 Na­tional Bud­get. Mr Sayed-Khaiyum and the Min­istry of Fi­nance team is also sched­uled to meet with key non­govern­ment or­gan­i­sa­tions and other stake­hold­ers in the com­ing days.
