Party sus­pen­sions lifted

Af­ter One Fiji Party and Peo­ple’s Demo­cratic Party rem­edy breaches of the Po­lit­i­cal Par­ties (Reg­is­tra­tion, Con­duct, Fund­ing and Dis­clo­sures) De­cree 2013

The Regis­trar of Po­lit­i­cal Par­ties had sus­pended both par­ties for 30 days for con­tra­ven­ing Sec­tion 24(1) (b) of the De­cree.

The Regis­trar of Po­lit­i­cal Par­ties has lifted the sus­pen­sion of One Fiji Party and Peo­ple’s Demo­cratic Party with im­me­di­ate ef­fect af­ter re­ceiv­ing Dec­la­ra­tion of As­sets, Li­a­bil­i­ties and Funds of of­fice hold­ers and reg­is­tered of­fi­cers of both par­ties pur­suant to Sec­tion 24(1) (b) of the Po­lit­i­cal Par­ties (Reg­is­tra­tion, Con­duct, Fund­ing and Dis­clo­sures) De­cree 2013. “Both par­ties have reme­died the breach and they have been no­ti­fied of the sus­pen­sion up­lift,” said Regis­trar of Po­lit­i­cal Par­ties Mo­hammed Sa­neem. The Regis­trar of Po­lit­i­cal Par­ties had sus­pended both par­ties for 30 days for con­tra­ven­ing Sec­tion 24(1)(b) of the De­cree. “Both par­ties were given sixty days from April 20, 2016 to rem­edy the breach/ con­tra­ven­tion or face dereg­is­tra­tion as a po­lit­i­cal party,” Mr Sa­neem said.
