Privileges Committee to meet over leaked minutes
Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni has directed the parliamentary Privileges Committee to investigate the leakage of a Standing Orders Committee meeting minutes.
After its investigations it will hand over its report to Dr Luveni. The meeting in November last year discussed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and its then chairman Biman Prasad. Excerpts of the minutes had appeared on social media. After he resigned from PAC, Mr Prasad asked SODELPA MP Aseri Radrodro whether he complained to Attorney-General Aiyaz SayedKhaiyum about Mr Prasad’s performance as PAC chairman. Mr Radrodro and Mr Sayed-Khaiyum have declined to comment. Mick Beddoes, the former Opposition Office principal administration officer, had emailed transcripts of the minutes in question to SODELPA MPs and officials. Edited by Naisa Koroi
