Priv­i­leges Com­mit­tee to meet over leaked min­utes

Speaker Dr Jiko Lu­veni has di­rected the par­lia­men­tary Priv­i­leges Com­mit­tee to in­ves­ti­gate the leak­age of a Stand­ing Or­ders Com­mit­tee meet­ing min­utes.

Af­ter its in­ves­ti­ga­tions it will hand over its re­port to Dr Lu­veni. The meet­ing in Novem­ber last year dis­cussed the Pub­lic Ac­counts Com­mit­tee (PAC) and its then chair­man Bi­man Prasad. Ex­cerpts of the min­utes had ap­peared on so­cial me­dia. Af­ter he re­signed from PAC, Mr Prasad asked SODELPA MP Aseri Radro­dro whether he com­plained to At­tor­ney-Gen­eral Aiyaz SayedKhaiyum about Mr Prasad’s per­for­mance as PAC chair­man. Mr Radro­dro and Mr Sayed-Khaiyum have de­clined to com­ment. Mick Bed­does, the for­mer Op­po­si­tion Of­fice prin­ci­pal ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fi­cer, had emailed tran­scripts of the min­utes in ques­tion to SODELPA MPs and of­fi­cials. Edited by Naisa Koroi
