Tough hooker to lead Hurricanes

Fiji Sun - - Sports -

Dane Coles will lead the Hurricanes out against the Highlanders tomorrow night. The hooker and captain has been battling concussion symptoms since suffering a head knock in the team’s win over the Reds on May 14. But he has now passed the requisite tests, which will be a huge boost to the team. Lock Michael Fatialofa is over his own concussion problems and will start in the second on row, alongside Blade Thomson. The latter was at No.8 for the team’s 29-14 victory against the Reds, but has made way for Victor Vito who is one of five players reinstated to the side. Vito, Ardie and Julian Savea, Cory Jane and Chris Eves were all not considered for the Reds game after missing a curfew in Durban the previous week. “This was a very tough team to select,” Hurricanes head coach Chris Boyd said. “We’ve got a lot of guys who are fit and in form at the moment, which is great, but makes things tough for the coaches when it comes to naming the team.” Eves will be one of the two reserve props, while Ardie Savea starts at openside flanker and Julian Savea and Jane are on the wings. Winning this match is absolutely critical to the Hurricanes’ Super Rugby playoff hopes and it’s expected that the team will play accordingly.
