Sikhs Celebrate First Martyr
COMMUNITY MEMBERS FROM SIGATOKA TO KARAVI ATTEND THE DAY-LONG CELEBRATIONS
Around 200 members of the Sikh community celebrated the first martyrdom of their religious organisation last Sunday in Lautoka. Lautoka Gurudwara president Bayant Singh said the martyrdom was that of their fifth Guru Arjan Dev.
He said the celebration was being carried out around the world simultaneously. The celebrations saw members of the Sikh community from Sigatoka to Karavi attend the day-long celebrations. “Yesterday we reflected on our values and beliefs and made sure we practiced this and maintained discipline,” Mr Singh said. He said the morning was taken up with preaching and reading of the Holy Scripture. This was followed by lunch for all those that attended. Edited by: Manasa Kalouniviti
