New Bua fire station under construction soon
The National Fire Authority (NFA) will soon have a new fire station at Nabouwalu in Bua. This was highlighted by NFA rep Joeli Vakatulala during the Lekutu district meeting at Votua Village in Lekutu, Bua yesterday. “The authority has secured a place to build the new station which was supposed to happen this year,” Mr Vakatulala said. He said paper work was all done and the site had also been visited.
“The station will also help the province of Bua as there have been many bush fires in the province as well.” Mr Vakatulala said the NFA has taken notice of the large extent of bush fires occurring in the Bua province. “Travelling down to Nabouwalu, we can witness bush fires everywhere and with the new station, this can help the people of Bua drastically,” Mr Vakatulala said. He said NFA’s desire in having the new station is to increase the effectiveness of their work and reduce the damage and loss of lives from fires. Mr Vakatulala said they were currently doing ground work before construction can begin. He said they hoped to have it up and running early next year. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
