Lautoka Chamber of Commerce hopes submission will be considered
The Lautoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry made its submission on the 2017 National Budget the past week during the consultations held in the West. However, President Pyara Singh, said they do not want to reveal the submissions they made and will await the budget announcement to see if their submissions are heard. Mr Singh said they are hopeful the Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, will consider their submissions. “The consultations had a very good turnout on Saturday in Natabua. Also it was the first consultation of that nature that was held in the Western Division,” he said.
“Usually these types of consultations are done in Suva. So it was a good opportunity for the people of the West to make their individual submissions also.”
Referring to earlier reports by the Fiji Sun on Government’s aim to make housing more affordable for people, Mr Singh welcomed this move saying more people will be able to own homes. Mr Singh welcomed the VAT reduction from 15 per cent to nine per cent and said they hoped this will remain in the 2017 National Budget.
