Skelton, Toomua for final Test
Sydney: Coach Michael Cheika has named an upsized Wallabies side to stave off England’s plans for a whitewash, with Will Skelton and Matt Toomua returned to the starting side. In two of three changes to the runon team, giant lock Skelton and physical centre Toomua will make their first appearances of the series in the third Test at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night. Toomua will play his first game at no.12 since early May after undergoing knee surgery, and Skelton will win his first Test cap since rupturing a pectoral muscle against Uruguay at the World Cup last year.
But Skelton’s selection does represent another roll of the dice for Cheika, with only two recognised line out jumpers now present in the starting XV.
”Willy, even though he’s been playing, he’s been playing with injury, a shoulder injury, he hasn’t been able to show us his best yet this season,” Cheika said.
