Drug lord suspect aids in joint operation

38,100 marijuana plants found so far by joint team

Aman believed to be one of the drug lords in the Navosa area has been arrested, thanks to informatio­n supplied by members of the public, chief of intelligen­ce and investigat­ions ACP Luke Navela said. “The suspect has since led the joint operations team consisting of officers from both the Fiji Police Force and Republic of Fiji Military Forces to a farm location where 5500 marijuana plants were found,” ACP Navela said in a Police statement yesterday. A team investigat­ing proceeds of crime is also looking into the suspect’s financial background. To date more than 38,100 marijuana plants have been found by the joint team and with the assistance shown by members of the public, they are confident of locating more farms and arresting those involved in the drug trade. “I would like to again express the Commission­er of Police’s gratitude to those who have so far been assisting our team with informatio­n that has led to the discovery of the farms and the arrests of those involved,” ACP Navela said.

“Their willingnes­s to assist has been a morale booster for the Operation Cavuraka team as they know their efforts are being appreciate­d by the very people whose lives are being affected by the illegal drug trade.” Source: Police Media Cell
