Kasabias Suva will proceed to the final of the Vodafone Fijian FACT today after edging Rewa 1-0 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori last night. Suva drew first blood in the 7th minute after a perfect volley from Setareki Hughes. The game slowed down as it began to rain making it impossible for the players to control the ball. Rewa allowed Suva too many chances to take shots at goal as their defence was weak.

Halftime: Rewa 0-1 Suva

Rewa settled down in the second spell, however basic mistakes prevented them from scoring. Luck was not on Rewa’s side as numerous attempts at goal proved futile. Suva spent most of the second half defending. Rewa had a chance to score but Josateki Tamudu’s kick went straight into the hands of Suva goalkeeper Benaminio Mateinaqara. Tevita Waranaivalu set up Iosefo Verevou but he could not find the mark. Big Play: Suva defended well in the second half.

Star Turn: Setareki Hughes was the star for the Suva side.

Comments

Rewa coach Marika Rodu: The boys were tired from last week but it was a good game.”

Suva coach Gurjit Singh: “I think the players did very well, they kept fighting until the very end. It was quite difficult but they did it and we have to be very careful as we go into the final against Nadi.”
