BUD­GET SES­SION STARTS TO­DAY

For to­day’s Par­lia­ment ses­sion, soon af­ter the prayer by the Speaker, Dr Jiko Lu­veni; the Leader of the Gov­ern­ment in Par­lia­ment and Minister for Agri­cul­ture, Ru­ral and Mar­itime De­vel­op­ment and Na­tional Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment, Inia Seruiratu will move – “That the min­utes of the sit­ting of Par­lia­ment held on Wed­nes­day, 22 June 2016, as pre­vi­ously cir­cu­lated be taken as read and be con­firmed.” The Minister for Fi­nance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will then move the se­cond read­ing of – A Bill for an Act to ap­pro­pri­ate a sum of $3,302,212,765 for the or­di­nary ser­vices of Gov­ern­ment for the fi­nan­cial year end­ing 31 July 2017 (Bill No. 35 of 2016).

This will in­clude a re­sponse from the Shadow Minister for Fi­nance.

A to­tal of 34 speak­ers from both sides of the House will be then make their con­tri­bu­tion on the bud­get.
