Jadu­ram In­dus­tries Limited con­tes­tant Prerna Singh won Miss Char­ity rais­ing $3200

The Duavata North­ern Crime Pre­ven­tion Car­ni­val has raised $104,950.10. This was an­nounced by the com­mit­tee chair­man Satish Kumar dur­ing the clos­ing night at Subrail Park in Labasa on Satur­day night. “I am very happy be­cause we have man­aged to achieve more than our tar­get for this year,” Mr Kumar said.

“I would like to thank the con­tes­tants, our ma­jor spon­sor Pinto In­dus­tries Limited and other spon­sors and the peo­ple of the North for the con­tri­bu­tion. “This would surely be used for the com­mu­nity projects.” Miss Seaqaqa spon­sored by Jadu­ram In­dus­tries Limited Prerna Singh was crowned Miss Char­ity. She raised $3200 dur­ing the week­long fes­ti­val.

The 19-year-old of Soa­soa, Labasa, said she was ex­cited to be crowned Miss Char­ity. “This award came to me as a sur­prise,” the el­dest of three sib­lings said. “I am very ex­cited and feel proud and thank­ful to my spon­sor and fam­ily for their sup­port.

“I am glad that I was able to con­trib­ute the high­est amount of fund to this car­ni­val which has been do­ing so many projects for the North since 2012.” Miss Singh is a sci­ence foun­da­tion stu­dent of the Uni­ver­sity of the South Pa­cific.
