FIJI BROAD­CAST­ING COR­PO­RA­TION MOVES EX­TENDED MAIN TV NEWS BUL­LETIN TO 7PM

The Fiji Broad­cast­ing Cor­po­ra­tion will be mov­ing their 6pm TV news to 7pm. The change started last night with the in­tro­duc­tion of new con­tent and news pre­sen­ters. FBC chief ex­ec­u­tive, Riyaz SayedKhaiyum said: “A re­search was car­ried out show­ing the ma­jor­ity of pop­u­la­tion in the Suva and Nau­sori cor­ri­dor ex­pe­ri­enc­ing traf­fic jams ev­ery day. “This was the rea­son for the move, it was bit of a risk but we are con­fi­dent that it would be ac­cepted by the Fi­jian community.” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said it was in line with their 62th birth­day cel­e­bra­tion that would be hap­pen­ing this month.

“Fi­jians can ex­pect new fea­tures in the news, four news pre­sen­ters as news an­chor, busi­ness, weather and sports.” He said news time will be 45 min­utes in­stead of half an hour. “We are con­cen­trat­ing on lo­cal con­tent this year which means in­vest­ing in man­power, train­ing, up­grad­ing soft­ware which is cur­rently in progress.” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum an­nounced th­ese changes at the FBC Cor­po­rate break­fast yes­ter­day at Hol­i­day Inn.
