FIJI BROADCASTING CORPORATION MOVES EXTENDED MAIN TV NEWS BULLETIN TO 7PM
The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation will be moving their 6pm TV news to 7pm. The change started last night with the introduction of new content and news presenters. FBC chief executive, Riyaz SayedKhaiyum said: “A research was carried out showing the majority of population in the Suva and Nausori corridor experiencing traffic jams every day. “This was the reason for the move, it was bit of a risk but we are confident that it would be accepted by the Fijian community.” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said it was in line with their 62th birthday celebration that would be happening this month.
“Fijians can expect new features in the news, four news presenters as news anchor, business, weather and sports.” He said news time will be 45 minutes instead of half an hour. “We are concentrating on local content this year which means investing in manpower, training, upgrading software which is currently in progress.” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum announced these changes at the FBC Corporate breakfast yesterday at Holiday Inn.
