O’Neill says Xi will be present in Pa­cific meet

Chi­nese Pres­i­dent Xi Jin­ping is said to be the first leader to con­firm his at­ten­dance at the 2018 Asian Pa­cific Eco­nomic Co-op­er­a­tion (Apec) sum­mit in Port Moresby. He an­nounced his in­ten­tion dur­ing bi­lat­eral talks with PNG Prime Min­is­ter Peter O’Neill in Bei­jing the past week. It was an of­fi­cial visit by Mr O’Neill.

Dur­ing high-level dis­cus­sions, the pres­i­dent ex­pressed his sup­port for more Chi­nese tourists to visit Pa­pua New Guinea, and the two lead­ers dis­cussed re­gional po­lit­i­cal is­sues.
