Motorists warned about road thieves’
Motorists are being requested to be vigilant in light of recent criminal activity targeting vehicles held up in traffic jams during peak hours. “Recent reports show incidents where opportunists are targeting people traveling in private and public transport and have had their phones and valuables snatched from inside their vehicles,” says Fiji Police chief operating officer Assistant Commissioner of Police Tito Elo. ACP Elo said while a few arrests had been made, the Police continued to receive reports of these offences occurring particularly along roads that were backed up due to peak hour traffic.
“Items stolen include phones, laptops and other electronic gadgets,” ACP Elo said. “We are therefore requesting members of the public to be vigilant and look out for would be opportunists who are committing these offences.”
