GI­ANTS’ PROB­LEMS FOR SUVA

The Suva foot­ball side is rac­ing against time as they pre­pare for the INKK Mo­bile Bat­tle of the Gi­ants tour­na­ment (BOG) that kicks off next week Fri­day at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nau­sori. “Most of our play­ers are not at­tend­ing train­ing and we are fac­ing ground prob­lems hin­der­ing our prepa­ra­tions,” Suva Foot­ball pres­i­dent Ma­hen­dra Prasad. “We are wait­ing for our Un­der-23 play­ers who are ex­pected to join the team later this week upon their re­turn from the Rio. “Their in­clu­sion will boost our prepa­ra­tion. “We are hop­ing that play­ers will start turn­ing up for train­ing as we march into camp at Lau­cala Beach on Mon­day.” Suva last won the tour­na­ment in 1995 and the side is op­ti­mistic that de­spite the set­back they will pre­pare a good side. “We will work on our strat­egy and op­ti­mistic of pre­par­ing a good side for the tour­na­ment,” Prasad said. Suva is with the de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Rewa, Nadi and Dreketi in Pool A while Ba heads Pool B with Lautoka, Labasa and Nadroga.
