NZ Appointment For Ali
Boxing Commission of Fiji’s director Usman ‘Lale’ Ali has been appointed a board member of the New Zealand Boxing Commission. The appointment was made yesterday in Auckland. NZBC chairwoman Lauana Swalger said with Ali’s appointment, the World Boxing Organisation, International Boxing Organisation and World Boxing Federation will be staging some good title fights in Fiji next year.
“This is a great honor for a Fijian to hold a decision-making position although Lale spends more time in Fiji,”Swalger said. “Most of our meeting will be held once every 2 months.” Ali will be in charge of New Zealand boxers when they take part in Fiji. Likewise if any Fiji boxer comes to New Zealand all training and welfare will be looked after by Faiyaz Khan of New Zealand Boxing. The New Zealand Boxing Commission has 5 board members including our Fijian ref/ judge Khan and 10 members including Ali.
