NZ Ap­point­ment For Ali

Box­ing Com­mis­sion of Fiji’s di­rec­tor Us­man ‘Lale’ Ali has been ap­pointed a board mem­ber of the New Zealand Box­ing Com­mis­sion. The ap­point­ment was made yes­ter­day in Auck­land. NZBC chair­woman Lauana Swal­ger said with Ali’s ap­point­ment, the World Box­ing Or­gan­i­sa­tion, In­ter­na­tional Box­ing Or­gan­i­sa­tion and World Box­ing Fed­er­a­tion will be stag­ing some good ti­tle fights in Fiji next year.

“This is a great honor for a Fi­jian to hold a de­ci­sion-mak­ing po­si­tion al­though Lale spends more time in Fiji,”Swal­ger said. “Most of our meet­ing will be held once ev­ery 2 months.” Ali will be in charge of New Zealand box­ers when they take part in Fiji. Like­wise if any Fiji boxer comes to New Zealand all train­ing and wel­fare will be looked af­ter by Faiyaz Khan of New Zealand Box­ing. The New Zealand Box­ing Com­mis­sion has 5 board mem­bers in­clud­ing our Fi­jian ref/ judge Khan and 10 mem­bers in­clud­ing Ali.
