SERU AIMING FOR THE ADI SENIKAU CROWN
The Adi Senikau peagant has become bigger and better every year with this year’s theme being: The rise of the mystical ocean, focusing on climate change.
One of the contestants taking part in this year’s event is 29-year -old Esala Seru of Nabua village in Rewa. He is otherwise known by his popular name Marama na Ranadi kei Viti. He was approached by the organising committee to be part of this year’s event after gaining popularity on social media after his videos went viral. “The organising committee called me to ask if I wanted to be part of this year’s pageant,” said Seru. He thought about it before agreeing to be part of the event, his platform advocacy theme is on gender discrimination and hopes to take the title tonight and continue with the message.
“I still face discrimination everyday and I believe that there still needs to be more awareness in the communities,” he said. Seru works as a tour consultant at Jevana tours and has been involved in youth work over the years and graduated as a youth peace facilitator from the youth peace development programme (YPDP) under the Ecumenical Centre for Research, Education and Advocacy in 2010.
His greatest inspiration is his family, friends and especially his mother. He urges everyone to come and support the Adi Senikau contestants and enjoy a night of fun and entertainment. The pageant will be held at the FMF Gymnasium at 7:30pm tonight and tickets are available at village six and at Damodar city, Laucala Bay.
