Pa­cific tourism group head meets Ratu Inoke

The Min­is­ter for For­eign Af­fairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, was paid a courtesy call this week by the newly-ap­pointed chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of the South Pa­cific Tourism Or­gan­i­sa­tion (SPTO), Christopher Cocker. Mr Cocker thanked Fiji for its sup­port to the SPTO and was ex­cited about the op­por­tu­nity to strengthen re­la­tions with Fiji. He ac­knowl­edged Fiji’s role in the re­gion and its sup­port to­wards the work of the SPTO. Mr Cocker also in­formed the Min­is­ter the work SPTO was do­ing to­wards coastal re­silience and other cli­mate adap­tion ini­tia­tives with part­ners such as the Asian De­vel­op­ment Bank, South Pa­cific Re­gional En­vi­ron­ment Pro­gramme and the In­ter­na­tional Union for Con­ser­va­tion of Na­ture and Nat­u­ral Re­sources. Ratu Inoke and Mr Cocker dis­cussed in­creas­ing air con­nec­tiv­ity to and within the re­gion. Mr Cocker has vast re­gional ex­pe­ri­ence in trade, in­vest­ment and re­gional tourism hav­ing worked with re­gional agen­cies such as the Pa­cific Trade & In­vest Auck­land of­fice and the Sec­re­tariat of the Pa­cific Com­mu­nity (SPC).
