Pacific tourism group head meets Ratu Inoke
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, was paid a courtesy call this week by the newly-appointed chief executive officer of the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO), Christopher Cocker. Mr Cocker thanked Fiji for its support to the SPTO and was excited about the opportunity to strengthen relations with Fiji. He acknowledged Fiji’s role in the region and its support towards the work of the SPTO. Mr Cocker also informed the Minister the work SPTO was doing towards coastal resilience and other climate adaption initiatives with partners such as the Asian Development Bank, South Pacific Regional Environment Programme and the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources. Ratu Inoke and Mr Cocker discussed increasing air connectivity to and within the region. Mr Cocker has vast regional experience in trade, investment and regional tourism having worked with regional agencies such as the Pacific Trade & Invest Auckland office and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC).
