Newly crowned Adi Senikau Hannah Mara Walker was overjoyed while taking out the top award during the Bank of Baroda sponsored event at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva on Friday night. Walker took out the title from the nine contestants vying for the popular side show of the Vodafone Hibiscus Festival in Suva. Adi Senikau Pageant chairperson Sulique Waqa said the Adi Senikau pageant platform was a great opportunity to showcase their talents and community work.

“I think it was the perfect opportunity for the contestants to get more involved in the community, be recognized for our hard work and mainly the message that we try to pass across our people,” Mr Waqa said. Adi Senikau Hannah has been actively involved in the community work post Tropical Cyclone Winston around the country. Hannah was born and raised in Vanuabalavu, Lau and has been advocating on transgender equality in the community. Meanwhile, the Vodafone Hibiscus queens and kings were given their special awards on Friday night at the Vodafone Arena. Edited by Rusiate Mataika
