Kon­rote Receives Out­go­ing High Com­mis­sioner

Pres­i­dent Ma­jor-Gen­eral (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Kon­rote yes­ter­day re­ceived a farewell cour­tesy call from the out­go­ing Bri­tish High Com­mis­sioner to Fiji, Rod­er­ick Drum­mond. Dur­ing their meet­ing at the State House, Pres­i­dent Kon­rote ac­knowl­edged the Fiji-Bri­tish bi­lat­eral re­la­tions and wished the Bri­tish en­voy suc­cess in his fu­ture work. High Com­mis­sioner Drum­mond said Fiji and UK share a lot of his­tory and his time spent in Fiji was mem­o­rable. Mr Drum­mond joined the Diplo­matic Ser­vice in 1985. He was Deputy Head of Mis­sion and Con­sul Gen­eral at the Bri­tish Em­bassy in Riyadh, Saudi Ara­bia be­fore com­ing to Fiji. The Bri­tish High Com­mis­sion in Suva is re­spon­si­ble for de­vel­op­ing and main­tain­ing re­la­tions be­tween the UK and Fiji, Fed­er­ated States of Mi­crone­sia, Kiri­bati, Repub­lic of the Mar­shall Is­lands, Tonga and Tu­valu.
