GOVERN­MENT COM­MENDS BEL­GIUM MIS­SION FOR TC WIN­STON DRIVE

The Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter has com­mended Fiji’s Em­bassy in Bel­gium for or­gan­is­ing a fundrais­ing drive to­wards the Prime Min­is­ter’s Na­tional Dis­as­ter Re­lief and Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Fund for Trop­i­cal Cy­clone

Win­ston vic­tims. In a let­ter to Fiji’s Am­bas­sador to Bel­gium Deo Saran, the Prime Min­is­ter’s per­ma­nent sec­re­tary Yo­gesh Karan stated the do­na­tion would con­trib­ute to the Prime Min­is­ter’s Na­tional Dis­as­ter Re­lief and Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Fund to help sup­ple­ment the re­lief and re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion work un­der­taken by the Fi­jian Govern­ment.

“I thank the mis­sion, staff and fam­i­lies and the Fi­jian di­as­pora in the Nether­lands and Bel­gium, friends of Fiji in Es­to­nia, UK and Bel­gium in­clud­ing some of the The African, Caribbean and Pa­cific Group of States (ACP) and the Sec­re­tary General for the kind thoughts and do­na­tion of F$13,028.12.” He said the fund would be di­rected to help re­build the lives of those di­rectly af­fected by Cy­clone Win­ston. “Once again, please ac­cept my ut­most grat­i­tude and ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the gen­eros­ity of the mis­sion and the Fi­jian di­as­pora in com­ing for­ward to as­sist the Govern­ment in help­ing fam­i­lies who have been ad­versely af­fected.” Source: DEPTFO News
