Typhoon Namtheun batters Japan
Tokyo: Typhoon Namtheun brought rain and 100-mph winds to southern Japan, just days after another typhoon made landfall. Namtheun is expected to track along the coast of Kyushu, Japan’s southwestern-most island, eventually making landfall near Nagasaki. Though the storm is expected to weaken, sustained winds of 100 mph are likely, with gusts reaching 125 MPH, making Namtheun as a Category 2 storm UPI
