Trop­i­cal Storm Warn­ing Is­sued for NYC Area as Hur­ri­cane Her­mine Nears

New York: A trop­i­cal storm warn­ing was is­sued for New York City, Long Is­land and parts of Westch­ester County as Hur­ri­cane

Her­mine bar­reled to­ward the North­east re­gion Satur­day. Her­mine has al­ready caused two deaths, dam­aged prop­er­ties and left hun­dreds of thou­sands without elec­tric­ity from Florida to Vir­ginia. It also spawned a tor­nado in North Carolina. By 8pm Satur­day, Her­mine ’s top sus­tained winds had in­creased again to 70mph as it moved east-north­east at 12mph. The storm was cen­tred about 195 miles south­east of Ocean City, Mary­land.
