No excuse for Man City players: Guardiola
London: As he prepares for his first Manchester derby, City manager Pep Guardiola has told his players they can have ‘no excuses’ this season after indicating they have better facilities to work with than he even encountered at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Guardiola’s showdown with his old foe Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford on Sunday will be eagerly anticipated across the world. And though he will be without star striker Sergio Aguero – banned retrospectively for three matches after elbowing West Ham’s Winston Reid last weekend – Guardiola says his squad will be the best-prepared team in Europe. “We have everything we need to work. The players can not complain. They have absolutely everything to help them to be ready to play,’ he said. “To win or lose is another thing because the opponent can be better, but here there are no excuses. If we are not ready or fit, it is because we are not good enough.
“I have never seen facilities like this. It is a big compliment for the chairman, for the people of Abu Dhabi and of course the people at Manchester City.’
City have invested £200million in their socalled Eithad Campus which comprises of 16 football pitches, three gyms, cryotherapy and ultra-sound rooms and six swimming pools. Daily Mail
