Anew Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services is expected to be appointed later this month. Public Service Commission chairman, Vishnu Mohan could only confirm that there had been a number of keen applicants for the position. Mr Mohan chose not to reveal whether the successful applicant was local or an expatriate. “A lot of people had shown interest from the many ministries. “We went through a transparent selection process from which we selected the top two or three people,” Mr Mohan said. The former Ministry for Health and Medical Services permanent secretary was Dr Maciusela Tuicakau. He had resigned from Government in July.

Currently, the position is being looked after by the Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Josefa Koroivueta..
