KOICA opens of­fice in Fiji

The Korea In­ter­na­tional Co­op­er­a­tion Agency (KOICA) yes­ter­day opened their of­fice at Level 2, Ra Marama House. Speak­ing at the open­ing cer­e­mony, Am­bas­sador from the Em­bassy of the Repub­lic of Korea, Kim Seon­gin said he was happy with KOICA ex­tend­ing their of­fice to Fiji which would fur­ther strengthen Fi­jiKorea ties.

“This bi­lat­eral friend­ship and har­mony be­tween Fiji and Korea has pro­vided the mo­men­tum to estab­lish KOICA Fiji and I ex­tend sin­cere grat­i­tude to the Fi­jian Gov­ern­ment for their kind sup­port,” Seong-in said. He added the Korean Gov­ern­ment was look­ing for­ward to work­ing with the Fi­jian Gov­ern­ment and the peo­ple of Fiji. “The Korean Gov­ern­ment hav­ing opened the KOICA Fiji of­fice is com­mit­ted to ful­fill its re­spon­si­bil­ity in ad­dress­ing the re­gional de­vel­op­ment is­sues, largely cli­mate change adap­ta­tion,” he said. “This also shows the Korean Gov­ern­ment’s will­ing­ness in con­tribut­ing to­wards achiev­ing the era of the peo­ple’s hap­pi­ness world­wide. “KOICA Fiji Of­fice shall pro­mote the health, re­new­able en­ergy, cli­mate change adap­ta­tion in­clud­ing im­prov­ing ma­rine in­fra­struc­ture.”

As­sis­tant Min­is­ter for Health and Med­i­cal Ser­vices, Veena Bhat­na­gar com­mended the Korean Gov­ern­ment for ex­tend­ing their ser­vices to Fiji. “This event marks both our Gov­ern­ments com­mit­ment and of­fer of friend­ship to pro­mote a vi­brant in­ter­change of knowl­edge, cul­ture and co­op­er­a­tion,” Bhat­na­gar said.
