Suva Aim: Maintain Unbeaten Run
The Suva football team will be out to maintain their winning run when they face Nadroga in round nine of the Vodafone Premier League at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka on Sunday. The Gurjit Singh coached-side have recorded wins over Rewa 2-1, Dreketi 6-1 and Nadi 2-1 in the competition. Singh said they have had ample time to prepare with all their players turning up for training.
However, they will miss the services of classy midfielder and captain Nickel Chand who copped a red card during their semi-final clash against Labasa at the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament semi-final last Saturday.
“We will definitely miss Nickel’s presence and it may be felt but we are confident as we have the right players to take charge,” Singh said. “Preparations though have been really good and I am happy the players have been turning up to training as well. “We started our training this week and the boys have been putting in the hard yards because we want that league title. “Our performance in the B.O.G has given us an insight into what we need to do to improve. “We were not prepared for that competition but we are going into this one well prepared.” Singh admits playing against Nadroga in their home ground would not be a walk in the park. “It is always a tough game for us playing in Nadroga’s ground and we have even lost to them on that ground but we are hoping to get a positive result this time. “Nadroga are a good side and we are just training hard and hopefully the boys will deliver on Sunday.” Suva take on Nadroga at 3pm. Reliable Ba defender Remueru Tekiate is set to play for Labasa from next season. His release has been confirmed by Fiji Football Association. Edited by Osea Bola
