Data portal for AFI members worldwide
Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) has launched a data portal which can be directly fed by AFI members worldwide. The launch was officially done at the afternoon session of AFI Global Policy Forum held at Sheraton Fiji Resort on Denarau Island on Thursday.
The Alliance for Financial Inclusion executive director Alfred Hannig said the new data portal was an innovation that AFI has come up with. The portal will host and update data and includes information on Maya (see below), Policy and Country Profiles and is open to every members use.
“In fact this is the first data portal which is directly fed by members and we are putting there a couple of things, for example, we are putting Maya commitment and the data in terms of implementation of the commitments so countries can plug in, update their commitments and provide data,” Mr Hannig said. Mr Hannig also said they are putting policy profile therefore AFI is collecting information and data from countries who have submitted information on the policies and their situation along with the data. “For example if a regulator in Malaysia wants to know what’s happening in Fiji, you can plug into the data portal and get all the information,” he said. These information can be used by members to draft their own regulations. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
