Com­plaints against LTA con­tinue, says Min­is­ter

Land Trans­port Au­thor­ity con­tin­ues to re­ceive pub­lic com­plaints about its ser­vices, says Parveen Ku­mar. The Min­is­ter for Lo­cal Govern­ment, Hous­ing and En­vi­ron­ment, In­fra­struc­ture and Trans­port, said yes­ter­day the re­view com­mit­tee chaired by Mo­hammed Sa­neem had handed the au­thor­ity’s re­port to the min­istry. He said the com­mit­tee was set up to re­view the au­thor­ity’s ser­vices af­ter a na­tion­wide con­sul­ta­tion by the At­tor­ney-Gen­eral, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

“A lot of is­sues raised dur­ing the con­sul­ta­tion led to the com­mit­tee be­ing set up to go through the griev­ances that were raised by the gen­eral pub­lic. “I am happy that I have re­ceived the re­port, way for­ward now is hand­ing the re­port to the So­lic­i­tor-Gen­eral re­port for vet­ting, than we will im­ple­ment mat­ters raised in the re­port,” Mr Ku­mar said. Mr Ku­mar said that he had made it clear that they would need to see the ser­vices to the gen­eral pub­lic were met. “The re­port is based on the gen­eral ser­vice de­liv­ered to the pub­lic and is­sues were not only in LTA of­fices in Suva but around the coun­try. We re­ceive com­plaints from the gen­eral pub­lic about LTA. The is­sues will be ad­dressed af­ter the re­port is re­viewed.”
