Ex cop chief’s lawyer seeks urgent hearing
Komisi Koria, the lawyer representing suspended Samoan Police Commissioner, Fuiavailiili Egon Keil, is seeking an urgent hearing date for a motion to quash the charges against his client. In the Supreme Court, Mr Koria requested the Chief Justice, Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu to consider his client’s position in government. The request follows an indication from Chief Justice Sapolu that the next available hearing date would be the week beginning 16th January 2017. But Mr Koria pleaded for an earlier hearing date, pointing out the hearing will only take about an hour. The lawyer from the National Prosecution Office, Lucy Sio, did not have any issue with the request.
