In­done­sia mount case against no­to­ri­ous smug­gler

Jakarta: In­done­sian au­thor­i­ties say they have briefed mem­bers of the Aus­tralian Fed­eral Po­lice as they move to mount a case against one of South-East Asia’s most no­to­ri­ous peo­ple smug­glers. Abra­ham Louhenapessy, or Cap­tain Bram as he is oth­er­wise known, was ar­rested in West Jakarta last Fri­day af­ter a search span­ning 10 months. It is al­leged Cap­tain Bram has been in­volved in smug­gling more than 1000 peo­ple to Aus­tralia since 1999. He is be­ing de­tained on Rote Is­land east of Bali.
