Peni Matawalu is adamant as he pre­pares for the Ocea­nia Rugby Un­der-20 Tro­phy which will be held at the ANZ Sta­dium on Novem­ber 26-De­cem­ber 10. The par­tic­i­pat­ing teams will be Fiji, Tonga and Cook Is­lands. The win­ner will qual­ify for the 2017 World Rugby U20 Tro­phy and the 2017 Ocea­nia Rugby U20 Cham­pi­onship (join­ing Samoa, New Zealand and Aus­tralia). The Dama, Nako­ro­tubu, Ra na­tive is the younger brother of for­mer Voda­fone Fly­ing Fi­jians scrumhalf Nikola Matawalu. “I’ve been pre­par­ing well with my team­mates sac­ri­fic­ing and ded­i­cat­ing for the cause. “There are a lot of new boys in the squad but we all have the same aim and that is to fin­ish on a high in De­cem­ber,” Matawalu said. Matawalu, 19, has been get­ting a lot of en­cour­age­ment from his elder brother Nikola. “I have been talk­ing to him and he’s been telling me to re­main fo­cus, pre­pare my­self phys­i­cally, men­tally and spir­i­tu­ally,” he said.
