Koya Commends League In Education Sector
The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources Faiyaz Koya last night commended the Fiji Muslim League for their contribution to the nation especially in the education sector. “The Fiji Muslim League has not only contributed to the economy in Fiji but in the Pacific Island countries as well,” Mr Koya said. Mr Koya was speaking to over 500 people at the 90th anniversary of the Fiji Muslim League celebrations at the Nadi Event Centre in Votualevu. He said Fiji was a country of peace and unity and every person was a part of it. “In the new Fiji every member of the society is a part of our moving forward and that includes all of us as Muslims, that also includes those of us who reside in isolated, rural and maritime areas and those who are most vulnerable; the women, children, the elders and disabled.” He said the community’s constitution was in line with that of the Fijian Constitution.
The national president of the Fiji Muslim League, Hafizud Dean Khan, said since its inception the league had come a long way and thanked the community for their continuous contribution and support in Fiji and abroad.
“Like our forefathers’ dreams, FML has a dream to have an educated community of Muslims who are proud to be Muslims and exemplify Muslim character in all their activities,” Mr Khan said. He said the community recognised the efforts of the past officials who had put in their sacrifices as enshrined in their constitution.
Also joining the celebration was the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Rosy Akbar, and Fijian Muslim soccer players from around the world who are taking part in the 2016 Digicel FANCA World Cup at Prince Charles Park.
